基本概況Beijing University of Technology was built in 1960 and is a key university under the jurisdiction of the Beijing Municipal Government. The University has established a multidisplinary academic structure，offering a variety of programs and is involved in diversified research in the fields of Science Engineering Economic Management Liberal Arts and Law. The University was among the universities first authorized by Ministry of education to grant master degrees
北京工業大學創建於1960年，是一所以工爲王，理工、經管、文法相結合的多科性北京市屬重點大學。
In 1981 and was authorized to grant doctorate degrees in December 1995，BUT passed the state Project 211”preliminary examination and became one of the hundred universities receiving preferential support from the state.
1981年成爲國家教育部批准的第一批碩士學位授予單位，1985年成爲博士學位授予單位;，1996年12月學校通過國家 "211工程”預審，正式跨人國家21世紀重點建設的百所大學的行列。Beijing University of Technology is located in Chaoyang District，the southeast part of Beijing. The campus covers an area of about 80 hectares with 4940000 square meters of floor space.
北京工業大學校位於北京市東北部的朝陽區，學校佔地面積爲80餘萬平方米，建築面積4940000平方米。The university now has 44 undergraduate majors 81 master programs and 14 engineering master fields 8 doctorate programs in first-level disciplines 37 doctorate programs in second一level disciplines 9 post-doctor research stations. BUT has 2 state key disciplines，8 Beijing key disciplines. It has 2 key laboratories set by the Ministry of education 3 key laboratories co-supported by ministry and province，12 key laboratories or research bases set by Beijing city.
學校開設44個本科專業 81個碩士學位授予點和14個工程碩士授權培養領域，8個一級學科博士學位授予點，37個二級學科博士學位授予點;9個博士後科研流動站。設有2個國家級重點學科，8個北京市重點學科，2個教育部重點實驗室，3個省部共建重點實驗室，12個北京市級重點實驗室或研究基地。The university has 3304 faculty and staff members，including 1414 professional teachers，272 full professors，518 associate professors 150 doctoral supervisors 396 master supervisors 8 academicians from CAS and CAE 1 special professor of Cheungkong Scholars Program 5 state outstanding experts 40 experts enjoying government special allowance.
北京工業大學有教職工總數3304人，其中 專任教師1414人，正高272人、副高518人;博士生導師150人，碩士生導師3%人;擁有兩院院士8人，“長江學者獎勵計劃”1人，國家有突出貢獻專家5人、享受政府特殊津貼專家40人。The university attaches great importance to basic research and the research of high and new technology and application. It has undertaken a great number of research projects，such as projects in state natural science funds，“Plan 863”，“Project 973”，key projects and vital science and technology projects set by the state and the Beijing city. Beijing University of Technology has a total enrolment of 25 862，including 3904 full-time postgraduate students(610 doctorate candidates and 3 294 master candidates)，753 on post postgraduate students 13640 undergraduate students in 4 or 2 year undergraduate programs 7450 part-time undergraduate students in 4 or 2 year undergraduate programs and 115 overseas students.
學校重視基礎性研究、高新技術研究和應用研究，承擔着一批包括國家自然科學基金 "973”計劃、"863”計劃、科技攻關計劃、北京市自然科學基金在內的國家和北京市重大項目。學校現有在校生25862人，其中，全日制研究生3904人（博士生610人、碩士生3294人)，在職研究生753人，普通本專科生13640人，成人教育本專科生7450人，留學生115人。In the past 45 years BUT has trained more than 80000 high-level talented personnel in various fields for Beijing's development in economy and r the leadership of Beijing Committee of Communist Party of China and Beijing Municipal Government，Beijing University of Technology seizes the strategic chance of the eleventh five-year-plan to continue the development of the key academic disciplines，cultivate the growth of its campus culture，participate in the economic construction and social development of Beijing，enhance cooperation internationally，and contribute to the New Beijing Great Olympics，promoting the university to be a model for other higher education institutes and prepare the ground for establishing Beijing Tech as a first-class teaching and research university of the country.

歷史變遷1960 Beijing University of Technology was established.
1960年北京工業大學創建。1972 Beijing Business Management Academy merged into Beijing University of Technology.
1972年北京工一商管理專科學校並人北工大
1990 Economy Management College of Beijing Allied University merged into Beijing University of Technology.
1990年原北京聯合大學經濟管理學院並人北工大。1993 Beijing computer College merged into Beijing University of Technology.
1993年北京計算機學院並人北工大、2000 Management Cadre College merged into Beijing University of Technology.
2000年管理幹部學院並人北工大。2004 Experiment College moved to Beijing and merged into Beijing University of Technology.
2004年實驗學院遷至北京，並人北工大。
