美國歐盟達成數據共享新協議大綱

The United States and European Union have struck a new deal regulating cross-Atlantic data transfers, after a European court struck down a previous agreement in October.

美國和歐盟達成一項有關跨大西洋數據傳遞管理的新協議，此前歐洲法院曾於去年10月否決了一項類似的協議。

European Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova announced the move Tuesday, saying she expects the deal to take effect in about three months.

歐盟司法事務專員星期二宣佈了這一舉措，並表示她預計這項協議將於3個月內開始生效。

Jourova said the deal marks the first time the United States has given the European Union "binding assurances" that public officials' access to personal information will be subject to clear limits, safeguards and oversight.

她說，這項協議標誌着美國首次向歐盟提出“有法律約束力的保證”，確保政府官員接觸私人信息將受到明確的限制和監督。

U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker told reporters Tuesday that the deal is "central to transatlantic commerce" and also signals the closeness of the U.S.-E.U. relationship.

美國商務部長普利茨剋星期二對記者說，這項協議對“跨大西洋的商業往來至關重要”，同時也展現了美國與歐盟的緊密關係。
