虛擬現實重建萬園之園 歷史輝煌'真實再現'

A research team led by Guo Daiheng, a professor from the Architecture School of Tsinghua University, has recreated the original appearance of the Old Summer Palace by using photos along with virtual reality (VR) technology.

近日，清華大學建築學院教授郭黛姮率領的研究團隊利用照片和虛擬現實技術再現了圓明園的原貌。

Guo's mentor was well-known late Chinese architect Liang Sicheng. It took Guo and her team 15 years to complete the digital restoration.

郭黛姮的導師是已故的中國著名建築學家樑思成。她和她的團隊用了15年的時間來完成這項數字復原工作。

The Old Summer Palace was first constructed in the early 18th century as a site to honor the best of Chinese landscaping and Western styles.

圓明園始建於18世紀早期，集中式景觀和西式風格之大成。

The garden used to cover 350 hectares, with a perimeter of 10 kilometers.

該園林的佔地面積約爲350公頃，外圍周長約10公里。

However, in 1860, Anglo-French forces sacked, looted and burned the palace to the ground.

然而1860年，英法聯軍洗劫了圓明園並將其焚爲平地。

From then on, the park suffered continual damage by the Eight-Power Allied Forces (composed of Britain, France, Germany, Russia, the US, Japan, Italy and Austria), warlords and bandits, so the entire site has been in ruins since.

此後，圓明園又接連遭受英國、法國、德國、俄羅斯、美國、日本、意大利、奧地利組成的八國聯軍以及軍閥和土匪的破壞，整個園區從此成了一片廢墟。
