We spent that first night in the home of Dr Afzal.
My father then left us to go to Peshawar and alert people to what was happening.
而父親則離開我們，動身前往白沙瓦，進行他關於斯瓦特近況的宣講。He promised to meet us later in Shangla.
他與我們約定，之後在香拉縣會合。
My mother tried very hard to persuade him to come with us but he refused.
母親竭力說服他和我們同行，但父親拒絕了。He wanted the people of Peshawar and Islamabad to be aware of the terrible conditions in which IDPs were living and that the military were doing nothing.

我們在一間便宜的骯髒旅館過夜，堂哥則去幫我們找輛廂型車，好載着我們去香拉。A man came near my mother and she took her shoe off and hit him once then twice and he ran away.
在旅館，一個男人靠近我的母親。母親立即脫下自己的鞋子打向他，一次又一次，那個男人總算逃走了。She had hit him so hard that when she looked at the shoe it was broken.
她打得太用力，事後檢查時才發現鞋子都壞了。I always knew my mother was a strong woman but I looked at her with new respect.
我一直都知道母親是一個堅強的女人，當我看着她，心裏升起了一股全新的敬意。
