名著欣賞《芒果街上的小屋》第40期:和木瓜汁

《芒果街上的小屋》 一本優美純淨的小書，一本“詩小說”。由幾十個短篇組成，語言清澈如流水，點綴着零落的韻腳和新奇的譬喻，如一首首長歌短調，各自成韻，又彼此鉤連，匯聚出一個清晰世界，各樣雜沓人生。所有的講述都歸於一個敘述中心：居住在芝加哥拉美移民社區芒果街上的女孩埃斯佩朗莎。生就對弱的同情心和對美的感覺力，她用清澈的眼打量周圍的世界，用美麗稚嫩的語言講述成長、滄桑、生命的美好與不易和年輕的熱望與夢想，夢想有一所自己的房子，夢想在寫作中追尋自我，獲得自由和幫助別人的能力。

Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut @ Papaya Juice on Tuesdays
　　On Tuesdays Rafaela`s husband comes home late because that`s the night he plays then Rafaela,who is still young but getting old from leaning out the window so much,gets locked indoors because her husband is afraid Rafaela will run away since she is too beautiful to look at.

　　Fafaela leans out the window and leans on her elbow and dreams her hair is like Rapunzel` the corner there is music from the bar,and Rafaela wishes she could go there and dance before she gets old.

　　A long time passes and we forget she is up there watching until she says:Kids,If I give you a dollar wiill you go to the store and buy me something? She throws a crumpled dollar down and always asks for coconut or sometimes papaya juice, and we send it up to her in a paper shopping bag she lets down with clothesline.　　　　　　　

　　在星期二喝可可和木瓜汁的拉菲娜拉菲娜

　　每逢星期二，拉菲娜的丈夫回家就晚，因爲這一晚他要玩多米諾骨牌。於是拉菲娜，年紀輕輕就因爲倚在窗口太久太久而變老的她，被鎖在了屋裏，因爲她的丈夫害怕拉菲娜會逃跑，因爲她長得太美了，不能被人看到。

　　拉菲娜倚在窗口，倚着她的胳膊肘，夢想她的頭髮能像拉潘索公主的一樣。酒吧的樂聲從街角傳來，拉菲娜希望能在變老以前去那裏，去跳舞。

　　時間過去很久了，我們忘了她在那上面張望，直到她說：孩子們，我給你們一元錢，你們去店裏幫我買點東西好嗎？她扔下一張皺巴巴的票子來。她總是要可可汁，有時要木瓜汁。我們把它放進一個她用晾衣繩放下來的紙手袋裏，給她遞上去。
