Didi Chuxing, China's ride-hailing giant, plans to lower its minimum passenger age restriction for teens traveling without a supervising adult from 18 to 16, the company announced Wednesday.

中國網約車巨頭滴滴出行週三宣佈，公司計劃將沒有成年人陪同出行的青少年最小乘車年齡從18歲降至16歲。

【講解】

ride-hailing是網約車；minimum passenger age restriction是最小乘車年齡限制。
去年10月，滴滴禁止18歲以下未成年人獨自乘坐網約車（use the car-hailing service alone），這項規定在網上引發了激烈的討論（generated heated discussion online）。
一些人認爲，許多16歲至18歲之間的未成年人外出打工或在外地上學（left home for work or study），因爲無法使用滴滴，深夜只好去打黑車（illegal cab services/black cars），出行更不安全了。
滴滴表示，公司不希望因爲平臺強制要求所有未成年人有家長隨行（policy requires all minors to take cars with their parents），而把一部分已經獨立的未成年人（independent minors）推向更不安全的灰色地帶（more dangerous gray areas）。
今年2月，滴滴出行發起網上調查（online poll），就未成年人能否獨自乘坐網約車（whether minors can ride Didi alone）尋求公衆意見（seek public opinion），56%的參與者（participant）支持未成年人可以在沒有成年人陪同的情況下獨自乘坐網約車（hail a ride without an adult accompanying them），44%的參與者反對未成年人乘車。
在另一起投票中，在把最小年齡限制（minimum age restriction）提升到16歲以上之後，受訪者中支持未成年人獨自出行的比例（percentage）提升到了80.3%。
