近日，一名清華大學老師被電信詐騙1700萬元（約250萬美元）的消息引發了公衆對大學老師工資的激烈討論。

【講解】

但是，據中新網報道，麥可思近期進行的一項調查發現，中國大學老師（college teachers）平均月收入（average monthly income）爲5478元。
調查發現，大學男教師的收入與女教師的收入呈現出明顯差異（income discrepancies between male and female teachers），在被調查的大學教師中，男性教師的平均月收入爲5717元，高於女性教師(5240元)9個百分點。
另外，教師職稱和職位的不同對於月收入影響較大，不同職稱（different professional titles）教師之間的月收入差距明顯。調查顯示，大學本科教授的月收入爲7947元，而高職高專助教（teaching assistant）的平均月收入只有3786元。
調查顯示，在對月收入不滿意（unsatisfied with their income）的教師羣體中，有71%的人認爲教師職業“收入整體偏低（the revenue for college teachers as a whole was relatively lower compared to other professions）”，67%的人認爲“收入增長與物價上漲幅度不匹配（the growth of their income was not able to catch up with the rising price of commodities）”。
50.2%的本科青年教師和56.8%的高職高專青年教師有爲增加個人收入（boost their personal income）而兼職（part-time jobs）的經歷。
