曾幾何時，高檔寫字樓、帶隔間的辦公室，那可是令人羨慕的白領生活啊。感覺只要坐進那小隔間裏，自己的身份便立刻變得高貴了不少。而現在，隔間已經不是什麼特別的象徵了，甚至有人把它們稱爲cube farm（隔間農場）。看到這個稱呼，是不是高貴的感覺立馬消失了呢？

Cube farm refers to a cluster of cubicles in an office. From the top down, they look like a bee nest, hiving productive little workers into their cells. Cube farm（隔間農場）指擠滿隔間的辦公室。如果從辦公室頂部看下去，這些隔間就像蜂窩一樣，裏面住擠滿了忙碌的小工蟻們。

This is the vain attempt to produce privacy in an otherwise open-office layout through the placement of shared partitions in a box-like arrangement around each adjoining work area. 在開放的辦公室用盒子那樣的隔間來分隔工作區，試圖創造一些私人空間，這樣的做法其實是徒勞的。 我們的辦公室是一個大大的cube farm，每個人都有一個固定的隔間。我們工作的大部分時間都是在那個小小的隔間裏面度過的，在那裏，我們都是cube jockey。

Cube jockey is an office worker who sits in a cubicle all day and is most likely destined to spend the rest of their career in one. They may spend most of their day surfing the net, playing computer games, or checking personal emails when the boss isn't looking. Cube jockey（隔間老大）指工作時間整天坐在辦公室小隔間裏的職員，他們餘下的職業生涯或許也要在隔間裏度過了。老闆不在的時候，他們可能大部分時間都在上網、玩遊戲或者查看私人郵件。
