名著欣賞《芒果街上的小屋》第37期:Elenita,牌,手掌,水

《芒果街上的小屋》 一本優美純淨的小書，一本“詩小說”。由幾十個短篇組成，語言清澈如流水，點綴着零落的韻腳和新奇的譬喻，如一首首長歌短調，各自成韻，又彼此鉤連，匯聚出一個清晰世界，各樣雜沓人生。所有的講述都歸於一個敘述中心：居住在芝加哥拉美移民社區芒果街上的女孩埃斯佩朗莎。生就對弱的同情心和對美的感覺力，她用清澈的眼打量周圍的世界，用美麗稚嫩的語言講述成長、滄桑、生命的美好與不易和年輕的熱望與夢想，夢想有一所自己的房子，夢想在寫作中追尋自我，獲得自由和幫助別人的能力。

　　There is a good Bugs Bunny cartoon on T.V. I know, I saw it before and recognize the music and wish I could go sit on the plastic couch with Ernie and the baby, but now my fortune begins. My whole life on that kitchen table : past, present, future. Then she takes my hand and looks into my plam. Closes it. Closes her eyes too.

　　Yes , I lie, but only a little.

　　她用手在水面上畫了三次十字，開始抽牌。

　　這可不是平常玩的牌。這些牌，它們有點奇怪，上面有騎在馬上的金髮白膚的男人，嚇人滴長了刺的棒球棒、金色聖盃、穿着舊式服裝的悲傷的女人，還有哭泣玫瑰。

　　我知道電視上在演一部好玩的《兔八哥》卡通片。我以前看過，聽出了它的音樂，我希望可以走過去和埃尼、包包一起坐在塑料沙發上，可我的命運開始顯現了。我的一生都在這廚桌子上：過去、現在和將來。接着她拿起我的手看手掌。合上它。同時合上的還有她的眼睛。

　　你感覺到了嗎？感覺到冷了嗎？

　　是的，我撒謊說，有一點冷。
