商務禮節美語第8期:購買紀念品(2)

公司副總裁Jason到上海出差，由Gina接待。Jason讓Gina幫忙選禮物。

Jason: Hey! You know what might be good gifts for my business associates? Chinese antiques! 嘿，你知道什麼是禮物適合給我的工作夥伴嗎？中國的古董？

G: Well, we certainly have lots of antique art, statues and carvings, but in most cases it's not legal to take genuine antiques out of China. 嗯，我們是有很多中國古代的藝術品，雕塑和雕刻品，但是大多情況從中國帶走真的古董是不合法的。

J: Oh, I see. That makes sense. You have to preserve your heritage. 哦，我知道了。這是有道理的。你們應該保護好你們的歷史遺產。

G: But there are many reproductions of antiques for sale. 但是有很多複製品可以買。

J: you mean fakes? 你是說假貨嗎？

G: A fake is when the dealer lies and says the piece is ancient. A reproduction is legal and they can be quite beautiful. You could take home some classical Chinese statutes as decorations for their offices. 假貨是指商人欺騙你說那是真的古董。複製品是合法的，它們看上去像真的也很漂亮。你可以挑一些經典的中國雕塑作爲裝飾品送給你的工作夥伴們。

Jason想給同事買中國古董antiques做禮物，但是Gina告訴他，古董不能帶出中國，建議Jason考慮買reproduction，複製品。Jason以爲Gina是指fake假貨，Gina解釋說，fake,假貨是商人故意欺騙顧客，以假亂真，而複製品則是合法生產和出售的。

J: Yeah! That would look cool. Maybe some scrolls or traditional paintings. 是啊！那樣很酷。也許一些書法作品和中國國畫。

G: Good idea. Scrolls with Chinese cursive calligraphy look great on an office wall. might even bring you luck! 好主意。草書的中國書法作品掛在辦公室牆上很氣派。並且，它們會給你帶來好運的。

J: You can't beat that! But what about the kids? 這是最棒的了！那給孩子買什麼呢？

G: 's a bit trickier. There are of course, lots of counterfeit goods available like software or music, but buying them isn't recommended. 嗯……這可有些麻煩。當然有給孩子買的東西，很多盜版的東西，比如盜版軟件或者音樂，但是不是很推薦買這些東西。

J: No, I don't buy counterfeits. sons have loads of computer games and CDs. 不，我不買盜版的東西。另外，我的兒子們有太多的遊戲光盤了。

Gina建議Jason買中國國畫或是書法作品，掛在辦公室牆上很氣派，但是給孩子買什麼禮物呢，Gina說, that's a bit trickier. 這可有些麻煩。Jason說，他不願意給兒子買盜版軟件或音樂，counterfeit is spelled c-o-u-n-t-e-r-f-e-i-t, counterfeit, counterfeit, 是盜版的意思。

G: Hey! I know. You could have old-style Chinese suits custom-made for them! They can go around looking like little Chinese emperors! I know a great tailor! 嘿，我知道了！你可以買中國傳統的服裝，根據身材特製的那種。他們可以穿着那些衣服出去玩，看上去像小皇帝！我知道一個很好的裁縫！

G: But you are my boss! 但是你就是我的老闆啊!

J: (Chuckle) Right! Then I'll make a note to myself! Really though... I can't thank you enough for all your help. （咯咯笑）對的！我要自己記錄下來！儘管這樣……我還是完全表達我的謝意。

G: Not at all. Just demonstrating some traditional Chinese hospitality. 小事。只是表現一下中國人的好客傳統罷了。

Gina突然來了靈感，說可以找裁縫給孩子量身定做中國的傳統衣服，custom-made，是定做的意思，把他們打扮成中國小皇帝的樣子。Jason對Gina的建議非常滿意，說要告訴Gina的老闆，給她漲工資，give someone a raise，是給某人漲工資的意思。Gina笑。着提醒Jason說，你就是我的老闆啊，我不過是表現一下中國人的傳統好客罷了
