When is a kiss not a kiss? Neil and Feifei explain a certain type of greeting and farewell which is like a kiss but doesn't involve touching lips!

什麼時候吻不是吻？尼爾和菲菲解釋了一種在問候和告別時所用的“吻”，雖然也是吻，但並不會觸碰到嘴脣！

Neil: Hello and welcome to The English We Speak from BBC Learning English, I'm Neil and with me is Feifei.

Feifei: Hello. You seem a bit tired Neil. Late night?

菲菲：大家好。尼爾，你看上去有點兒累。昨天熬夜了？

Neil: Yeah I had to go to this old university reunion thing — which was fine — but by the time all the goodbyes and air kisses were over it was really late.

尼爾：對，我不得不去大學老同學的聚會，這是挺好的，不過等所有告別和飛吻都結束的時候確實很晚了。

Feifei: Air kisses? You were kissing the air?

菲菲：空氣吻？你親吻了空氣？

Neil: You know, those kisses people give each other where their lips never actually touch each other's? They just make the noise.

尼爾：不是，就是人們給彼此的吻，但是事實上他們並不會觸碰到對方的嘴脣。他們只是發出聲音。

Feifei: Ah yes I know. When you meet up with people you know at a social event and to greet and say goodbye you pretend to kiss.

菲菲：啊，那個我知道。當你碰到那些在社交活動中認識的人時，在打招呼或是告別的時候，你就這樣假裝親吻。

Neil: That's it. Usually you touch cheeks on either side and make a kissing noise but the lips never touch. Sometimes the cheeks don't touch either. And that is an air kiss.

尼爾：沒錯。通常你們觸碰任意一邊的臉頰，發出親吻的聲音，但嘴脣從來不會接觸。有時臉頰也不會接觸。這就是飛吻。

Neil: An air kiss. A type of greeting and farewell between friends at social events.

尼爾：飛吻。這是社交活動中朋友們打招呼和告別的一種方式。

Feifei: A kiss in which the two people's lips do not touch!

菲菲：兩個人的嘴脣在飛吻時是不會接觸的！

Neil: That's it — cheek to cheek and a big kissing noise into the air. Mwah! Shall we end with an air kiss to our audience? After all, they are our friends.

尼爾：就是這樣。臉貼臉，在空氣中製造出很大的親吻的聲音。麼麼！我們用飛吻來向聽衆們告別好嗎？畢竟，他們是我們的朋友嘛。
