中國股市暴跌逾6% Chinese stocks close 6% lower

Despite scraping above the psychological 4,000 point barrier in early trade, steady selling pressure through the day and a late slump saw the Shanghai Composite close 6.2 per cent lower at 3,748.2 points, writes Peter Wells. The Shenzhen Composite ended 6.6 per cent lower at 2,174.4.
早盤時分，上證綜指曾短暫突破4000點心理關口。但全天持續的拋壓及尾盤的暴跌，還是令該指數收於3748.2點，跌幅6.15%。深證綜指則收跌6.58%，至2174.4點。
It was the biggest one-day drop for Shanghai stocks since an 8.5 per cent tumble on July 27, which was the index's second-biggest one-day fall of the past 15 years. For Shenzhen stocks, it's their biggest fall since a 7 per cent fall on the same date.
這是滬市自7月27日暴跌8.5%以來的最大單日跌幅。而7月27日的跌幅，則是過去15年裏上證綜指的第二大單日跌幅。對深市來說，今日的跌幅則是7月27日下跌7%以來的最大跌幅。
There was little on the economic front that should have unhinged Chinese shares today. Data showed prices for new homes in 70 Chinese cities declined 3.7 per cent in July from a year ago, which is the slowest pace of decline since December. And the People's Bank of China meanwhile kept the renminbi "fix" steady at Rmb6.3966 to the US dollar.
從經濟面看，今天幾乎沒什麼令中國股市瘋狂的消息。數據顯示，7月份中國70個城市的新房價格同比平均下跌了3.7%，是去年12月以來的最小跌幅。另外，中國央行將人民幣兌美元匯率中間價設定在了1美元兌6.3966元人民幣，相對於前一日的中間價幾無變化。
