While the dragon dance remains the central part of Lantern Festival processions to this day, Chinese communities outside of China have added cultural elements from their new countries to the Festivel. You'll still see dragon dancing in a San Francisco Lantern Festival parade, for instance, but you're also likely to see western-style floats and marching bands, too.
