She sure was. She dropped him like a hot potato the next day! I don't they'll ever be able to patch things up, either. With Jane, there are no second chances.

我們先來學習Kenny話語中的drop like a hot potato和patch things up這個2個詞彙。今天,我們先來學習:drop someone like a hot potato

To drop someone like a hot potato means to abandon someone or something suddenly and completely, sometimes to avoid potential problems. 用中文來說就是“拋棄,離棄某人或某物”,所以,我們可說爲:drop someone like a hot potato,也可說爲:drop something like a hot potato

1:I haven't seen Cynthia in weeks because she dropped me like a hot potato once she started hanging out with the cool kids.(我好幾周都沒見過Cynthia了,她一開始和那些很酷的孩子們一起出去玩就把我給甩掉了。)

Lisa was good for you tonight; you were more relaxed than I've seen you in weeks. He stood up for the first time in weeks, and we danced together in the pool.

解析2:hang out是一個固定短語,意思是“閒逛”,和某人“閒逛”,介詞with,即:hang out with someone。例如:Why do you just hang out in Bars? Why don't you hang out with me instead? 跟我一起玩兒不好嗎?)There was a little boy named Johnny who used to hang out at the local corner market.

2:We dropped our renovation plans like a hot potato after finding out how much the job would cost.

How did you come to find out where she's living? (你是怎麼打聽到她住在哪兒的?)I'll write and find out how you've been conducting yourself.

2:after finding out how much the job would cost是介詞短語。
今天,我們學習了drop like a hot potato這個詞彙,明天我們來學習patch up這個詞語。
