在上面的報道中，new-energy model city就是“新能源示範城”。新能源城市將大力推廣wind energy（風能）、solar energy（太陽能）、geothermal energy resources（地熱能源）等新能源的利用，鼓勵green car（新能源汽車）、smart grid（智能電網）等產品的使用。

Model city就是“示範城”，model在這裏的意思是“模範的，榜樣的”，類似用法有model village（模範村），model workers（勞模），model wife（模範妻子）。“示範”也可以用其他表達方式，例如agriculture demonstration base（農業示範基地）。
