上文中perish in the line of duty就是“因公殉職”的英文表達，perish是比較正式的詞，一般情況下可以直接用die來替代；另外，也可以用be killed in the line of duty來表示，如：The police officer was killed in the line of duty during a criminal investigation.（那名警官在進行一宗刑事案件調查時因公殉職。）

其他61位遇難者的死亡原因有：溺水（drowned），電擊（electric shock），房屋倒塌（collapsed buildings），泥石流（flood debris），創傷性休克（trauma-induced shock），高空墜物（falling objects）以及雷擊（lightning）。
