報道中的"lone wolf" terror attack即“獨狼”式恐怖襲擊，對此奧巴馬解釋爲“one person killed dozens of people without elaborate organizational support”，即一名襲擊者在沒有elaborate organizational support（充足外部協助）的情況下單獨行動，致數人死亡。奧巴馬說這些人往往受hateful ideology（仇恨意識）所驅使，危害更大，更難trace（追蹤）。美國當前正對這種襲擊keep high vigilance（保持高度警惕）。
